A delightful serenade

For a change, here is a Chinese number, a love song entitled "Green Island Serenade" sang by the very talented Vienna Teng; this particular music-video is brought to us
by "stanleypower". Many thanks to Stanley for sharing this beautiful piece.

I am told that Green Island is a small island just off the coast of Taiwan, where there existed a prison used by the KMT government for political prisoners in the fifties but has since been shut down. It's a beautiful island for nature-watching and worth visiting on a tour.

This is the kind of song where a young man expresses his love for a girl but the girl remains silent, and hasn't shown any of her emotions. A feeling of melancholy, and of missed opportunities...

To some extent, the song expresses the feelings of those "prisoners of conscience" who were separated from their loved ones and how they must have longed to be united with them again soon.

Enjoy this piece especially in the stillness of the night, I am sure that you'll like it!
