Going home

Today, I am going home after spending the last 10 unforgettable days with my son in Brisbane, Australia.

I have finished what I have set out to do and there is a sense of satisfaction and joy as I look forward finally to going home.

Life's like that...like bad times never last, all good times will surely come to their ends too.

What we have left are memories, both happy and sad. Often we rejoice in the good ones but we fail to learn lessons from the bad.

I guess we have to learn over and over again to have the courage to look back without regrets, acquire the strength to face the present with confidence and have the wisdom to prepare for the future without fear.

Remembering always that life is not a 100 yard dash, it is more like a cross-country run. If you sprint all the time, you may not only lose the race, probably you would not even have enough strength left to reach the finish line.

God speed us home.

Meantime enjoy this melody...

Did you know

Did you know that my son Patrick shares the same birthday as I, and that's yesterday the 18th Dec which has come and gone.

Time flies, and today we are both one day older. The weather was kind to us and we have had a wonderful day in beautiful Brisbane yesterday.

We shopped and dined, traversed the city by bus and train, and didn't get home until late into the night, almost midnight! Wish it had but time couldn't stand still for us, so we savoured every moment that we had and it was precious.

I know that my CG fellowship will be having a great Christmas do on the evening of 21st Dec. which is fast approaching.

Although I couldn't be with you all, my heart and mind will surely be there. Here's wishing you all a great and successful party!

Before I go, let me leave you with these music videos. Enjoy...and have a joyous and blessed Christmas!

Convocation

This is my 4th day in Brisbane.

To say that I am here on holiday is an over-statement, for it is really no fun to feel the heat of the summer sun almost the whole day through.

Yes, the weather is extremely hot out here. To me, the current hot and dry spell is actually worse than the hot and wet which I endure back home in Malaysia most of the year.

Today, I would rather stay indoors and blog than to be out there in the scorching sun.

I am here for a purpose actually, i.e. to attend my son's graduation ceremony at the University of Queensland (St Lucia campus) which ended yesterday, albeit successfully.

It was a traditional English type ceremony, one that was full of "pomp and show" and quite memorable too. That's the point, I guess.

Despite the hot weather, I am glad that my wife and I are able to be here to celebrate our son's first major academic success. The reunion with our son by itself was meaningful and joyous.

The next couple of days, I will probably look around and see what Brisbane has to offer. It will mean a lot of walking. I hope our legs can make it!
